Well, I finally finished cleaning out my old classroom. I can't believe how long it took me but I had accumulated a lot of stuff and most of the things in my room were mine. It just took a lot longer than I imagined and I guess I'm a perfectionist (sometimes) and I had to leave the room perfect for the next teacher.
I also spent the last two days trying to set up my new classroom at Ann Ott. It was kind of fun putting up new bulletin boards and trying to decide how to set up the tables and desks etc.
There are things I like about my new room and school and things I will miss. For one, it's 20 miles away and takes between 20 min (during perfect traffic) up to an hour (during rush hour) So, that's gonna take some getting used to. The price of gas is especially gonna be hard. I've been so spoiled all these years working in Mesa. But my pay and benefits are way better so I hope that makes up for the higher cost of gas.
The school where I will be working is called Ann Ott. It used to be an elementary school but because it's so close to the airport, it was closed down. Planes are always flying over it. (I wonder why they built it there in the first place cuz the airports been there a long time?)
Anyways, Rio Salado has a bunch of Adult Ed classes there (English, GED and College Prep). I will let you know more later how it goes. Monday is my first day! Wish me well. Talk to you later!
